Security personnel Block Edo Deputy Governor's Access to Governor Obaseki at Public Function (Watch Pictures)

In a dramatic turn of events at the Edo State Government House, security personnel prevented Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu from approaching Governor Godwin Obaseki during a public event on Sunday. 

Viral photos circulating on social media showed Obaseki seated with his wife, while security aides blocked Shaibu's access during the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Church Service, held at the Festival Hall, Government House, in celebration of Edo's 32nd year anniversary. 

This incident is believed to be linked to the recent discord between Shaibu and Governor Obaseki, stemming from rumours of Shaibu's 2024 gubernatorial aspirations after his return from a vacation in the United States. Despite the denial of access, Shaibu expressed his total loyalty to Obaseki, emphasizing that his ambition to become the state's governor does not affect his dedication to the current governor.
