Abdulazeez Deserves His Joy Like Every Other Young Nigerian – Kwara First Lady Counters Online Misrepresentation

My attention has been drawn to an online publication concerning the 30th birthday celebration of my son, Abdulazeez AbdulRazaq, held in London, the city where he was born, raised, and has lived most of his life.

For clarity, Abdulazeez is a highly accomplished Senior Credit Analyst in a reputable Fortune 500 company. He has distinguished himself academically with first and second degrees, as well as multiple professional certifications to his credit. Importantly, he established his career and life in the United Kingdom long before his father assumed office as the Governor of Kwara State in 2019.

Abdulazeez is a young, hardworking Nigerian professional with aspirations, responsibilities, and everyday challenges like any other citizen. That he is the son of a sitting Governor does not strip him of the right to exist freely, express joy, or celebrate personal milestones with his family and friends.

It is therefore unfair and deeply unkind to portray a private birthday gathering, hosted in the city where he resides, as an offense — or to malign the reputation of his father, His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who remains focused and committed to expanding socio-economic opportunities, strengthening security, and advancing sustainable development across Kwara State.

The narrative being promoted suggests that the children or relatives of public office holders must suspend their lives, happiness, and growth because of their relationship to those in service. This cannot represent the values of fairness, empathy, or reason that the good people of our state and nation are known for.

Before, during, and after public office, my family has maintained its global professional engagements and strong work ethic. I lived and worked in London for many years and continue to serve in various capacities — committed to contributing meaningfully to the progress of Kwara State and Nigeria by the grace of God.

We therefore urge the public to disregard the misleading and divisive online report. Let us instead continue to uphold truth, decency, and respect for the dignity and privacy of individuals — regardless of their family backgrounds.
