Sultan Applauds Makinde's Mosque Construction, Bestows the Name 'Sa'ad' on him

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, inaugurated the Organisation of Tadhamunul Muslimeen Mosque in Adogba, Iwo Road, Ibadan. This mosque, constructed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, was promised on October 19, 2019, as part of the redevelopment plan for the Iwo Road Bus Terminals.

Commending Governor Makinde for fulfilling his commitment, the Sultan expressed gratitude, emphasizing the significance of constructing houses of worship in a beautiful manner. He renamed the governor 'Sa’ad' and highlighted the mosque's dual role as a place of worship and an Islamic school, promoting education for a better world.

Governor Makinde, acknowledging the support of the Muslim community during the governorship election, assured fairness to all religions in the state. He explained the demolition of Adogba Central Mosque and a church to make way for the Bus Terminal, addressing concerns about biased appointments. Makinde expressed his dedication to running an administration that ensures balance and entitlement for all.

The governor's decision to build the mosque was driven by the need to address spiritual infrastructure alongside physical development. He affirmed his administration's commitment to stomach infrastructure, emphasizing economic contributions through timely salary and pension payments and positive results in education and health sectors.

Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta states, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola, praised Governor Makinde's personal investment in building the mosque, considering him worthy of the title Amir’mumeen of Oyo State. Deputy Governor Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal and other dignitaries, including the Emir of Kano and a former Head of Service, were present at the grand inauguration.
