Breaking: Gov. Makinde Announces Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the New Soun of Ogbomosho

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially appointed Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomosho. The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by the state's Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Olusegun Olayiwola, on Saturday. It was emphasized that this appointment adheres to the legal procedures outlined for such transitions.

Governor Makinde extended his congratulations to the newly appointed Soun, highlighting the importance of his role in fostering unity, understanding, and tolerance among the people of Ogbomosho. The Commissioner encouraged all residents of the ancient city to collaborate with the monarch to build upon the achievements of his predecessors.

Notably, the Soun's throne had been vacant since the passing of Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III, on December 12th, 2021, at the remarkable age of 111. Oba Oyewunmi had ascended to the throne on October 24, 1973, reigning for 48 years.
