Professor Abdulrasheed Na'allah, a distinguished author and publisher, was born in 1962. He showcased his exemplary leadership skills as the pioneering Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU) for an impressive decade spanning from 2009 to 2019. In recognition of his exceptional track record, Prof. Na'allah assumed the role of Vice Chancellor at the University of Abuja on July 1st, 2019.
During his tenure at KWASU, Professor Abdulrasheed Na'allah left an indelible mark on the institution through his unwavering commitment to infrastructural development and academic excellence. His legacy is firmly rooted in various achievements, such as the establishment of innovative academic Programmes, the creation of the Center for Community Development, and the initiation of an entrepreneurship programme. Furthermore, he nurtured robust collaborations with renowned foreign universities, fostering global ties and enriching the academic environment.
Upon his appointment as Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Na'allah continued his tradition of driving research innovation and excellence. Under his leadership, the university's lecturers achieved remarkable research breakthroughs that resulted in the acquisition of multimillion-naira grants, exemplifying the institution's growing impact on the academic world. Notably, the efforts of over 10 researchers and 20 authors secured grants exceeding 1 billion naira, elevating the university's reputation.
Under the stewardship of Professor Abdulrasheed Na'allah, the university admissions process, once marred by financial implications, has undergone a complete transformation. Transparency now reigns supreme, and a meticulous commitment to due process is the hallmark of this evolution, a proof to the leadership quality of Prof. Abdulrasheed Na'allah
One of Professor Na'allah's transformative initiatives was the introduction of comprehensive student and staff enumeration, a practice neglected for the past three decades. By implementing this measure, he enforced the mandatory use of ID cards for identification and security purposes, enhancing campus safety and organizational efficiency. His commitment to academic discipline is evident in the marked reduction of cultism and anti-social behaviour within the University of Abuja campus.
Under his administration, the previously opaque administrative process underwent a profound transformation, embracing transparency and adhering to due process. Professor Abdulrasheed Na'allah's tenure witnessed the reclamation and fencing of university land, thwarting encroachment and ensuring a secure academic environment conducive to scholarly pursuits.
Notably, he championed the integration of entrepreneurship education within the university's curriculum, encouraging students to cultivate entrepreneurial skills and fostering a mindset of self-employment. As a proof to his forward-looking vision, he mandated graduating students to register a company with the Corporate Affairs Commission, equipping them with the tools to become self-employed and employers of labour.
