LUKMAN OLAYIWOLA MUSTAPHA UNVEILED? Fresh Insight

Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha FCA, FCTI, HCIB, MNIM, rings a bell in the ears of many. Just at the mention of his name, people immediately associate him with Sobi 101.9 FM and other will associate him with FCMB as a Chartered Accountant and a Seasoned-Banker.

Born Lukman Akanbi Olayiwola Mustapha on July 10, 1969 at No 8, Alikali Mustapha Compound, off Jaji Street, Isale Aluko Quarters in Ilorin to Mustapha family, and a family that valued knowledge of both Islamic and Western education.

His distinguished father, Alhaji Usman Mustapha was born at Alikali Mustapha Compound, Isale Aluko in Ilorin West, was politician who had served the Kwara state Government in various capacities, accomplished public administrator and is currently the Wali of Ilorin in Ilorin Emirate.

His late mother, Alhaja Khadijat Abebi Mustapha was born at Ojagboro Adedo Compound in Ilorin East to the family of Late Alhaji Lawal popularly called Lawani Ora, a renowned politician in Kwara state. She was one of the founders of Taoheed Nursery and Primary school, Ilorin along side with other notable committed Muslim women, such as Alhaja Zainab Oniyangi wife of former Minister of Defense and Telecommunication, Nigeria. She was a mother of repute and a woman of substance. She did not only encourage the youth to acquire education but as well facilitated their admission into higher institution of learning. At a different occasion also, she offered financial assistance to the indigent students.

Lukman had his Arabic and Quranic education at Ile Alufa Aluko under the supervision of the fourth Imam of Isale Aluko. He had his primary education at Ilorin Teachers College Demonstration School now known as Baboko Primary School and later transferred to Kwara Tech Staff Primary School when his mother was appointed as the Welfare Officer of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.

He proceeded to Government Secondary School, Ilorin for his West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASCCE) in 1985 and passed it with golden colour and later he proceeded to Kwara Polytechnic in 1987 for his GCE A level courses.

After his secondary and GCE A level courses, Lukman proceeded to Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, where he bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Studies and proved his mettle by leading the entire set of 1990, thereby graduating as the best student of the year. After the necessary National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 1992 he gained employment in an indigenous Bank in Lagos as Operation Officer, and in 1997 he later bagged his Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from University of Ilorin, Ilorin.

He has travelled far and nears in pursuit of academic advancement, evidenced by his attainment of education feats from the world’s best education institutions – in 2008 he attended executive course on Strategic Marketing Management Course at Stanford Graduate School of Business, California. And in 2009 he attended Building and Learning Customer Centric Organization Program at Harvard Business School, Boston (Massachusetts).
Also in 2011 Lukman Olayiwola studied Executive Course on Negotiation and Decision Making at the world famous Harvard Business School, Boston (Massachusetts), all in the United States of America.

Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha completed Executive Courses on Key Account Management and Senior Management Programme, 2006 and 2009 respectively at prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS), Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.

In 2011, Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha completed another Executive course on Blue Ocean Strategy at INSEAD Business School, Fontainebleau, France.

Lukman currently is a Regional Director, Abuja and North and Head, Public Sector of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) with almost a hundred branches under his kind watch.

His professional career began in 1991 as Cashier in Societal Generale Bank of Nigeria (SGBN). He would later join Dynasty Group in 1994 where he did well and rose to Senior Auditor till he left in 1996. He joined Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria as Accounting Officer, Ibadan Branch in 1997.

He later joined National Acceptances Limited (NAL Bank) Ibadan Branch as Accountant in 1997 and rose to Account Officer of the same branch in 1999.

He became Branch Manager of Inland Bank, Trade Fair, Lagos State in 2001 and left Inland Bank in 2006 as Senior Branch Manager, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

In 2006, he became Regional Manager, South West of FinBank PLC, 2008 as Area Business Executive, FCT and rose to Divisional Head, Federal Public Sector in 2010.

He later became Head, Public Sector of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) in 2012.

Alhaji Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha has built for himself the corporate identity of a seasoned Banker over the years. He also has cognate experience as a professional Accountant and Financial Analyst/Enthusiast. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI). He is also an Honorary Senior Member, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB) and a Distinguished Member, Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM).

In the eyes of his colleagues in the Banking world, Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha is a versatile, high-energy executive who has the innate ability to lead teams through change and challenge to profitable growth. Those he worked and still work with say he is a strategic problem-solver who envisions smart solutions and executes with urgency.

Lukman is presently the Chairman of the Boards of  Directors of some Nigeria’s leading companies which include Sobi 101.9 FM, a leading radio station in Ilorin, Kwara State which have come to be known as the voice of the voiceless; among the other.

Lukman is married to Alhaja Rahmatallah Ayoola, they are blessed with three (3) children, one boy, two girls.

As at the time of writing, the net worth of Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha is currently unknown but it is believed that he is very well to do, seeing that he has greatly risen to the top from the humble beginnings.
