Breaking: 38 Abducted Kwara Church Worshippers Regain Freedom After Intense Rescue Effort

In a major breakthrough that has brought relief across Kwara State, all 38 worshippers abducted during the violent attack on Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, have regained their freedom, following days of coordinated security operations.

The announcement was made on Sunday by the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), who confirmed that the victims were rescued through the combined efforts of federal and state security forces.

According to the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the massive rescue success was largely achieved due to the direct intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who personally supervised national security responses, even postponing his trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to address the crisis in Kwara and Kebbi States.

Security deployments were intensified, including the mobilization of four new tactical police teams, DSS operatives, Army units, intelligence teams, and local vigilantes — all working tirelessly to locate and recover the captives.

The Secretary of CAC Oke Isegun, Michael Agbabiaka, also confirmed to Geri Alimi News that the DSS notified the community of the victims’ safe release around 4 pm. Families and residents of Eruku are now anxiously awaiting their return.

The attack, which occurred last Tuesday and claimed three lives, sparked nationwide outrage as it became one of the largest mass abductions in Kwara’s recent history. The successful rescue now offers renewed hope in the ongoing fight against banditry in border communities.
