ADC Acting Chairman Hon. Nafiu Bala Debunks Fake Resignation Letter

Geri Alimi News – Abuja, August 1, 2025

The Acting National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Nafiu Bala, has strongly denied a purported resignation letter being circulated in public, describing it as false, fabricated, and part of a coordinated effort to mislead party members and the general public.

In a press statement released on Friday in Abuja, Bala clarified that he never resigned as the party’s Deputy National Chairman and affirmed his legitimate emergence as the Acting National Chairman following the official resignation of the former chairman, Ralph Nwosu.

According to Bala, the letter dated May 18, 2025, being shared online and among political circles is fake, lacking official endorsement and filled with inconsistencies.

“I wish to unequivocally state that I have not resigned from my position as the Deputy National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The timing and content of the so-called resignation letter are not only misleading but also suspiciously riddled with contradictions,” he said.

Bala cited a public statement made by Ralph Nwosu on July 2, 2025, at the Yar’Adua Conference Center, where Nwosu formally stepped down and confirmed that Bala had not resigned. This statement, Bala argued, directly invalidates the content of the forged letter.

He also drew attention to the lack of authenticity in the circulated letter, noting that unlike all official communications which use the party’s official letterhead, the fake letter was written on plain paper with no official insignia of the ADC.

“This is a clear attempt to cause confusion and create division within our ranks. It is important that we uphold the integrity of our party’s Constitution and leadership structure,” Bala stated.

He further challenged the legitimacy of individuals claiming leadership positions within the party, reminding them that ADC’s constitution requires any aspirant for leadership to have maintained financial membership for at least one year.

Bala urged ADC members, supporters, and the general public to remain vigilant against misinformation, and to stand by the party’s democratic values.

“Our party is founded on transparency, integrity, and unity. I remain committed to the vision of a stronger ADC and a better Nigeria,” he concluded.
