Naira Marley Takes Legal Action Against Iyabo Ojo, Alleges Defamation and Demands N500m

Nigerian entertainer Naira Marley, whose real name is Afeez Fashola, has initiated legal proceedings against actress Iyabo Ojo. He accuses her of spreading false and defamatory content on her Instagram account.

In a copy of the letter published by Punch online,  Naira Marley's lawyer, Olalekan Ojo said the accusations stem from a September 2023 post in which Ojo claimed Naira Marley had engaged in spiritual and physical dealings with the late singer Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Aloba, whom she referred to as a brother.

Naira Marley's attorney is seeking redress in the form of a N500 million compensation from Ojo and a public apology. Failure to comply with these conditions may result in a lawsuit against her.

The letter emphasizes the serious repercussions of Ojo's words, stating that the defamatory publication has caused colossal damage to Naira Marley's global reputation, leading to public ridicule and contempt.

In the context of Naira Marley's involvement with the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to discourage substance abuse, the letter highlights the impact of Ojo's statements on the artist's followers and the significant harm caused to his image.
