Panic in Ilorin as some armed youth suspected to be hoodlums attacked the residents of Adewole community following the denial to stage a carnival ceremony in the area.
It was gathered that some youth in the community inconjunction with others hoodlums from Lagos have caused panic among the residents of Adewole in Ilorin West Local Government of Kwara State on Monday early hours.
It was gathered that some who were teenagers in the community in conjunction with others from Lagos plan to hold carnival of which community policing turned down.
According to the findings, the refusal of order by the community was go well with them but the carnival was later rescheduled the programme to a hotel in Adewole estate.
It was also gathered that after the programme, the organisers of the carnival at early hours on Monday massively group themselves and attacked the innocent residents, particularly members of the community policing committee residential house.
It was further revealed that the attackers fired sporadically into the air to scare people, cutlasses, axes, while broken bottles smashed on any valuables spotted around.
Speaking with our reporter, the chairman of the community, Mallam Taiye Olobi said it was quite unfortunate that those the community want to get rid off can boast enough to launched an attack on the community.
He lamented that residential buildings, and vehicles were damaged by the hoodlums, assuring that the youth in the community would not folding it arms watching for the hoodlums to destroy the life of incoming generation.
He solicited for the supports of all in making sure that hoodlums relocated out of the community, advising parents to always monitoring their children and warn them against taking illict drugs.
As at the time of filling this report, some of the hoodlums have arrested by the police in connection with the crime, helping the police in their investigations.
