Kwara State Government under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has taken a step further at ensuring new lease of life for the rural farmers.
The government through a special leasing arrangement is hereby inviting interested members of the public with requisite technical-know-how to apply as its agents in all farming communities across the 16 local government areas of the State.
The heavily subsidized tractor leasing scheme can only be accessed through accredited agents in every farming community in the State, said the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Job Creation and Chairman Taskforce on Tractorization, Aliyu Alhassan on Thursday in Ilorin.
The State according to Alhassan aims at cultivating 10,000 hectares of land under its Farmers Support Program where a rural farmer only pays N10,000/hectare per farm operation.
The release stated that application form — https://bit.ly/3cjJ4i3 is to be completed online via various government e-platforms, while enquiries would be taken on kwarafarmers@gmail.com.
The Taskforce Chairman added that, the application form is free, stressing that technology will be deployed in monitoring the performance of the agents while working on the farms.
According to him government has made the enterprise more attractive for agents to forestall sharp practices. The ultimate goal is that, government is interested in bumper harvests this year, with the farmers having commensurable reward for their efforts.
Alhassan added that, only applicants that meet up with the set criteria would be considered as the application process closes on Wednesday, 25th May, 2020. A day orientation will subsequently be conducted for successful applicants before the tractors and its implements are moved into various farming communities.
Members of the Taskforce include, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Secretary; Abdulqawiy A. Olododo; Kabir Shagaya and Aisha Akaje (Mrs.).
Others are Ahmed Kuburat Bukola (Mrs); Ibrahim Abdulrazaq Saka; Adeyemi Nikola Abiodun and Kayode Oyin-Zubair.
