An African addage says and I quote: If a farmer wishes to reap his harvest after one year he should plant cassava. If however he wishes to harvest years after year he should plant palm tree, nuture it and invest in it in the hope that the tree on its own will yield fruit so as to continue enjoying maintenance and relevance to the farmer. All things being equall the future of this farmer is secured.
The tree here represent a senator of the federal rebublic who has distinguished himself in the eight assembly. The youngest but by no means not the smallest senator, Dino Melaye. Senator Melaye is a palm tree that must be kept relevant, supported and adequately listened to for the future of Nigeria we so much desire.
The success of Nigerian project is largely dependent on the success of Dino’s FACTORS. Very few people I guess will want to ask what these factors are. For the benefit of these few possible readers of this work let me state them.
* The Factor of Rule Of Law must hold sway not minding who is involved.
*The Factor of seing is believing that caused a distinguished senator to embark on a fact finding mission to a project site with hammer to ascertain if a building actually worth a budgeted figure.
*The Factor of strong aversion for impunity.
*The Factor of not giving in to towing the line of his political party to the detriment of Nigerian public.
*The Factor of not believing in political godfatherism.
*The Factor of being a distinguished senator of the federal republic of Nigeria and not just Kogi West senatorial zone alone to mention but a few.
He had summoned the greatest courage by releasing a jab though silently and in his agbada dress on the outrageous emoluments himself and other colleagues of his enjoys, but was not succinctly heard opposing or canvassing for the reduction. Possibility of which will free funds for other critical necessities that lack of fund has prevented from seing the light of the day.
Face to face with Dino and you will see the rare competition between vibes and enthusiasm running all over him. No wonder he was able to dethrone a very vibrant,’ philanthropic’,benevolent and natural lawmaker who equally distinguished himself in the sixth through to seventh assembly, senator Smart Adeyemi. Truth be told, the last 10 years of Nigeria’s democratic experiment has availed Kogi West senatorial zone opportunity of presenting excellent lawmakers to the admiration of other constituencies in the land.
Juxtapose sagacity with Melaye and see the true definition of similarity. Juxtapose patriotism with Dino and see the true meaning of one’s love for his country. This is the reason NO type of friendship with him ever has a guaranteed future if the ingredients that glue him with the other person lack the factors identified in this piece of work. Suffice to mention the origin of the fracas between him and the man he so much celebrate his divine ascendancy to the biggest political throne in the state that prides itself with beauty and as such name itself The Confluence State.
Suffice to state again the recent protest by a section of Kogites for the recall of a performing senator. It will be a misnomer to quickly allow the funny but very popular story of certicate saga to erode our minds. The story that aptly reverberate the true meaning of an addage that says the hunter become the hunted ,The Borno senator a case study.” If I say the truth, I will die , if I don’t I will die so I choose to say the truth” apologies to him. Melaye has made so many enemies both with adherents of his political party and those from other folds but, has made far more friends with the Nigerian public for he has struggled hard to bequeath a Nigeria that we so much yearn for.
